The Congolese Community of Hamilton (CCH) met on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the RAFIKI COMMUNITY hall for an extraordinary general meeting, convened by the CCH Board of Directors. In her opening remarks, the President thanked everyone in attendance and read the agenda, which included the following items:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Election of a chair and a secretary for the meeting.<\/li>\n
  2. Verification of quorum.<\/li>\n
  3. Adoption of the minutes of the last extraordinary general meeting of Dec. 13, 2025.<\/li>\n
  4. Presentation of the CCH\u2019s general management report and the financial report for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.<\/li>\n
  5. Discussion and deliberation on the report.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After the agenda was read, the President proposed Mr. Lievin Mubenga as chair of the meeting and Ms. B\u00e9b\u00e9 Malala as secretary. The proposal was moved and seconded by the general meeting.<\/p>\n

    Taking the floor in turn, the chair of the extraordinary general meeting, Mr. Mubenga, verified the quorum in accordance with section 19.5 of the community\u2019s bylaws and regulations governing the conduct of the general meeting. Handing the floor to the secretary for the third item on the agenda \u2014 the reading of the minutes of the CCH extraordinary general meeting of Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025 \u2014 the minutes were adopted after an amendment made by the general meeting. On the fourth item on the agenda, the President presented her general report on the 2024-2025 year, covering the following points:<\/p>\n

    2. Introduction of the members of the CCH Board executive<\/li>\n
    3. Community development strategies4. Services offered by the CCH<\/li>\n
    4. Projects completed during the Sept. 2024 \u2013 Aug. 2025 fiscal year<\/li>\n
    5. Finances<\/li>\n
    6. Future outlook<\/li>\n
    7. Conclusion<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      As for the members of the CCH Board executive, the following people were introduced:<\/p>\n

      -President: Nancy Muinda<\/p>\n

      -Vice-President: Erlinde Mulumba<\/p>\n

      -Secretary: Nanou Kalombo<\/p>\n

      -Treasurer: Donat Lumpathie<\/p>\n

      -Director: Sarah Alangi<\/p>\n

      -Project Officer: Mankonga Gradi<\/p>\n

      Regarding community development strategies, for 2024-2025 the Congolese Community of Hamilton launched the \u201cFrench in Our Homes\u201d project to develop our community by promoting the French language and Congolese culture, with financial support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.<\/p>\n

      As for the services offered by the CCH, and in accordance with our bylaws, our main objectives are as follows:<\/p>\n

      -Promote Congolese culture in Canada<\/p>\n

      -Active participation of members in activities.<\/p>\n

      -Strengthen ties of solidarity with other ethnocultural communities.<\/p>\n

      -Help our members settle in.<\/p>\n

      The following activities were carried out during the Aug. 2024 \u2013 Sept. 2025 fiscal year:<\/p>\n

      -Conversation circle to break the silence in the EAST<\/p>\n

      -Health walk<\/p>\n

      -Painting therapy<\/p>\n

      -Gala 2025 \u2013 65th anniversary of independence and multicultural evening.<\/p>\n

      -Youth talent show \u2013 Annual General Meeting (AGM)<\/p>\n

      \"\"The financial report was presented by the Treasurer, Mr. Donat Lumpathie, covering revenue, expenses and the surplus achieved. An effort to reduce expenses compared with the previous year was noted. The report was adopted by the general meeting. To close, the President concluded that the year from September 2024 to August 2025 had brought hope, resilience and progress for the Congolese Community of Hamilton and Area. Despite some challenges throughout the year, the CCH has shown exceptional determination to promote its core values of unity, solidarity and transparency \u2014 highlighting that a strong member makes a strong community. We are proud of our achievements and determined to continue our efforts in the years ahead.<\/p>\n

      The meeting ended with a call for all members present to act as mediators and to restore unity, love and tolerance within the community, bringing together all Congolese people, without exception.<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9sentation du rapport g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de gestion de la CCH et du rapport de finances de l\u2019ann\u00e9e fiscale 2024-2025. D\u00e9bat et d\u00e9lib\u00e9ration du rapport. Apr\u00e8s la lecture de l\u2019ordre du jour, Madame la pr\u00e9sidente a propos\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019assembl\u00e9e la candidature de Monsieur Lievin Mubenga comme pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019assembl\u00e9e et de Madame B\u00e9b\u00e9 Malala comme secr\u00e9taire. Cette proposition a \u00e9t\u00e9 appuy\u00e9e et second\u00e9e respectivement par l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Prenant la parole \u00e0 son tour, le pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale extraordinaire, M. Mubenga, a proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 la v\u00e9rification du quorum, conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 l\u2019article 19.5 du statut et du r\u00e8glement de la communaut\u00e9 relatif au d\u00e9roulement de l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Passant la parole au secr\u00e9taire pour le troisi\u00e8me point inscrit \u00e0 son ordre du jour, qui est la lecture du proc\u00e8s-verbal de l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale extraordinaire de la CCH du samedi 13 d\u00e9c, 2025, celui-ci a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9 apr\u00e8s un amendement apport\u00e9 par l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Quant aux services offerts par la CCH et conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 notre statut, nos objectifs principaux sont les suivants : -Promouvoir la culture Congolaise au Canada -Participation active des membres aux activit\u00e9s. -Renforcer les liens de solidarit\u00e9 avec d\u2019autres communaut\u00e9s ethnoculturelles. -Faciliter l\u2019int\u00e9gration de nos membres. \u00a0 Les activit\u00e9s suivantes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s au cours de l\u2019ann\u00e9e fiscale Ao\u00fbt 2024 \u2013 Sept 2025 : -Cercle de conversation pour le silence \u00e0 l\u2019EST -Marche de sant\u00e9 -Th\u00e9rapie par la peinture -Gala 2025 \u2013 65e anniversaire de l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance et soir\u00e9e multiculturelle. -Youth talent show-Assembl\u00e9e G\u00e9n\u00e9rale Annuelle (AGA) Le rapport financier a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par le tr\u00e9sorier, Monsieur Donat Lumpathie, faisant mention des rubriques des entr\u00e9es, des d\u00e9penses et du b\u00e9n\u00e9fice r\u00e9alis\u00e9. Toutefois, un effort de r\u00e9duction des d\u00e9penses a \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9 par rapport \u00e0 l\u2019ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Ledit rapport a \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9 par l\u2019assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Pour terminer, Madame la pr\u00e9sidente a conclu que l\u2019ann\u00e9e de septembre 2024 \u00e0 ao\u00fbt 2025 s\u2019est av\u00e9r\u00e9e porteuse d\u2019espoir, de r\u00e9silience et de progr\u00e8s pour la Communaut\u00e9 Congolaise de Hamilton et ses environs. En d\u00e9pit de certains d\u00e9fis rencontr\u00e9s tout au long de l\u2019ann\u00e9e, la CCH d\u00e9montre une d\u00e9termination exceptionnelle \u00e0 promouvoir ses valeurs fondamentales d\u2019unit\u00e9, de solidarit\u00e9 et de transparence, mettant ainsi en lumi\u00e8re un membre fort pour une communaut\u00e9 forte. En effet, nous sommes fiers de nos r\u00e9alisations et d\u00e9termin\u00e9s \u00e0 poursuivre nos efforts dans les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. La r\u00e9union s\u2019est termin\u00e9e par une conscientisation de tous les membres pr\u00e9sents afin de jouer le r\u00f4le de m\u00e9diateurs et de ramener l\u2019unit\u00e9, l\u2019amour et la tol\u00e9rance au sein de la communaut\u00e9, en rassemblant tous les Congolais, sans exception.
