To thank the board of directors for its work, a certificate of excellence and a keepsake were presented to Jean-Jacques Somwe, Sarah Alangi, Erlinde Mulumba, Donat Lumpatshie and Nancy Mwinda Tshibola.<\/p>\n<p>Over the year, the CCH took part in or organized the following activities: Africa Day in May, a gala evening celebrating the anniversary of Congo\u2019s independence in June, the Afro Jazz festival in July and a holiday evening in December.<\/p>\n<p>The Congolese community also organized activities for seniors to help them break out of isolation, such as health walks followed by barbecues, and coordinated a range of discussions, including one entitled\u00a0<em>French in Our Homes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Before closing the annual meeting, President Jean-Jacques Somwe spoke about a project to ensure the lasting presence of Congolese culture: \u201cThe board of directors has proposed a plan to preserve our culture. We are convinced that building a cultural centre in the heart of Hamilton would be a solution to this challenge.\u201d The long-term goal would be to invest in young people and increase the capacity to manage operations through regular funding.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Mr. Somwe, in office since 2018, announced that he was handing over the presidency of the organization to Nancy Muinda Tshibola, executive director of the CCH. With degrees in psychology and special education, she works with students who have learning and adjustment difficulties and behavioural disorders. In 2019, she founded a non-profit organization whose mission is to help vulnerable people in various sectors in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese years at your side have been marked by challenges, victories and a collective determination to build a strong, caring community. Together, we overcame difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and we created memorable moments. Thanks to you, the young people in our community are more involved and the CCH\u2019s visibility is growing. Les Congolais ont aussi organis\u00e9 des activit\u00e9s pour les a\u00een\u00e9s afin de les aider \u00e0 sortir de l\u2019isolement telles que des marches de sant\u00e9 suivies de barbecues, et ont coordonn\u00e9 des discussions vari\u00e9es dont celle intitul\u00e9e\u00a0Le fran\u00e7ais dans nos foyers. Avant de conclure l\u2019assembl\u00e9e annuelle, le pr\u00e9sident Jean-Jacques Somwe a \u00e9voqu\u00e9 un projet qui permettra de p\u00e9renniser la culture congolaise\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Le conseil d\u2019administration a propos\u00e9 un plan pour pr\u00e9server notre culture. Nous sommes convaincus que la construction d\u2019un centre culturel au c\u0153ur de Hamilton serait une solution \u00e0 ce d\u00e9fi.\u00a0\u00bb L\u2019objectif \u00e0 long terme serait l\u2019investissement dans la jeunesse et l\u2019augmentation de la capacit\u00e9 de g\u00e9rer des op\u00e9rations gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un financement r\u00e9gulier. Enfin, M.\u00a0Somwe, en poste depuis 2018, a annonc\u00e9 qu\u2019il c\u00e9dait sa place \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sidence de l\u2019organisme \u00e0 Nancy Muinda Tshibola, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de la CCH. Licenci\u00e9e en psychologie et en sciences d\u2019\u00e9ducation sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e, elle travaille aupr\u00e8s des \u00e9l\u00e8ves ayant des difficult\u00e9s d\u2019apprentissage, d\u2019adaptation et des troubles du comportement. En 2019, elle a fond\u00e9 une organisation \u00e0 but non lucratif dont la mission est d\u2019aider les personnes vuln\u00e9rables dans divers secteurs en R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo. \u00ab\u00a0Ces ann\u00e9es pass\u00e9es \u00e0 vos c\u00f4t\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9es par des d\u00e9fis, des victoires et une d\u00e9termination collective \u00e0 b\u00e2tir une communaut\u00e9 forte et solidaire. Ensemble, nous avons surmont\u00e9 des moments difficiles, telle que la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19 et nous avons r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des souvenirs m\u00e9morables. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 vous, la jeunesse de notre communaut\u00e9 s\u2019implique davantage et la visibilit\u00e9 de la\u00a0CCH rayonne.
