A bilingual, multicultural and inclusive community
We are a vibrant community in the heart of the city of Hamilton, Canada, known as the Congolese Community of Hamilton and Area, or CCH. Most of its members are nationals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). According to the most recent census, the DRC is the leading country of origin of francophone immigration to Hamilton.
The CCH embraces the bilingualism and multiculturalism that reflect Canada’s unique approach to inclusion. These characteristics put the CCH in a unique position to engage with people from every community using Canada’s two official languages (French and English), with a commitment to inclusion and fairness for all.
Purpose of the organization
The Congolese Community of Hamilton and Area is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to promote the social, economic and cultural well-being of its members. It helps its newly arrived members integrate smoothly into Canadian society.
Our mission
To undertake and promote concrete initiatives that contribute to the socio-economic development of members of the Congolese community of Hamilton and Area, and of the entire immigrant community from francophone Africa.
Our impact
Our health and wellness activities and our job search support services make it easier for newcomers to settle in, while mentoring young people strengthens their academic and personal abilities — and, in turn, the vitality of the community.
