The Congolese community of Hamilton is a member of a recently created African platform called the Hamilton Black Health Community Leaders Forum (HBHCLF). This opening is an opportunity for CCH members to engage with members of the various African communities living in Hamilton to advance your respective businesses. The CCH president sits on the platform’s executive committee. The current members of the HBHCLF are: DR Congo, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Zimbabwe. The Hamilton African Diaspora Community Leaders Forum is the voice of Hamilton’s African diaspora community at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. To advance its members’ unique needs related to the social determinants of health, the organization represents Hamilton’s African communities in partnership with local government and other local stakeholders. As of September 14, 2021, the HBHCLF is a non-profit, non-partisan federal organization.
Our Africa Day celebration program will include the official launch of the HBHCLF, health promotion activities, Black/African business networking, entertainment and much more. The celebration will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Calvin Christian School, 547 West 5th St., Hamilton, ON.
